TUCKER RADIO

Hi,
I have just aquired a TUCKER Radio Head and under dash box unit. I do not have the speaker for this unit. But the radio head and box are in GREAT condition. I am looking for more information on my unit. What I have found in the past is that all of the cars were a little different. I am wondering what % or how many of the cars had the same radio head and Motorola power unit? Is there ant statistics or documentation to back how many of the units like the one I have were actually installed in the TUCKERS. Thank you in advance.

I'm sure Richard will correct me on this if I am wrong but:

1) There were many more radios built than cars. As the radios were part of the Accessory Purchase Plan, I think I recall hearing that about 3,500 radios were made.

2) The first 6? Tucker cars had a slightly different Motorola units that did not have the T-U-C-K-E-R lettering on the push-buttons. They were just numbered 1-6.

Can you give me kind of an idea as to what these are worth? I understand alot of it depends upon the condition. I read when these came out that they were a $399. option on these cars in 1948. I have a gentleman that is interested in purchasing this unit but I have not a clue as to what it is worth. My unit looks to be in GREAT condition and it still has the original RED lettering on all the keys. The knobs and buttons are still nice and white with little to no checking or cracking, the power box is complete with the original copperish color brown scaly paint job, all cables are in tack, and the little plastic knob on the power is in great condition as well. I have the main power line still attached with the fuse and the little clip that attaches into the power source. The only thing that seems to be missing is the ground wire the speaker wire and the speaker. I would appreciate any help that you could give me.

Thank you again for your time.

The radios were $96.50 new.

Today, a complete one in mint condition usually fetches around $400-$500. Given that yours is missing the speaker, I guess it's up to you and your buyer to determine how that affects its value.
